Owen-Withee School Board Discusses Student Handbooks

-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed the district’s student handbooks at their meeting last week.Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor and Middle/High School Dean of Student Julie VanArk shared the 2017-18 versions of the student handbooks. After review and some discussion of items in the handbooks, the board approved them on a unanimous voice vote. Also, each year the board uses a short term borrowing strategy to help the district pay bills during times between when they receive state aid and property tax payments. The board approved a resolution to use a closed line of credit from Forward Financial Bank to borrow up to $500,000 at 4.25 % interest.
The board also discussed the student fees for the next school year. District policy requires that the board review fees students pay. There are three which include a junior/senior high fee of $10, a $25 athletic participation fee and a $150 driver’s education fee. These fees are the same as the previous school year. On a voice vote the board approved these fees.
