Enbridge Energy Celebrates Completion of New Pump Station

Friday, August 11th, 2017 -- 7:23 AM

(WDLB) -Enbridge Energy on Thursday celebrated the completion of a new pump station for its crude oil just south of Marshfield.

The Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a ribbon-cutting celebration for the new Enbridge facilities on roughly 20 acres of land on South Washington Avenue just south of Klondike Drive in the Wood County town of Richfield. Enbridge Government Relations Manager Scott Suder says the new station is a state-of-the-art facility which can assist in delivering crude oil along the company's Line-61 pipeline it has running from Superior to Pontiac, Illinois.

Suder said the new pump station is not fully operational yet, because other stations along the route are not upgraded yet. Line-61 is one of four crude oil pipelines Enbridge has running out of Superior, through portions of Wood, Clark, Marathon, Adams and Taylor Counties, to various locations in Illinois. The new Enbridge pump station south of Marshfield is one of 12 new or modified pump stations in Wisconsin along the Line 61 corridor. In total, the project represented an investment of over 635-million dollars.
