Clark County Extension Office at the Clark County Fair, Part 3

Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 -- 11:33 AM

-The Clark County Fair begins next week and the Clark County UW-Extension Office is hard at work preparing for it.

I spoke with Melissa Kono, CNRED Agent, and Chris Holler, 4-H Advisor, and they talked about some of the events they’re doing at the fair. Chris continued the interview by talking about the many, many events happening with the 4-H at the Clark County Fair.

Chris: "And this year we are going to have everything being judged. All the projects being judged face-to-face. The biggest reason for that is it's educational. The youth that have worked on a project, if, in fact, they have worked on the project, can talk about that project with a judge face-to-face. So, some of the judging will be done when they come in to the building. There will be a judge there and if there's nobody talking to the judge, they can go right up and have their project judged at that time. The hope is that judges aren't giving out ribbons right off the bat because they need to know who else is in that class and then to gauge it against all the other stuff that is there. But, sometimes some judges do their own thing. And that's okay. We'll just try and encourage them not too. We'll do like a bank line. You come in and wait in line until a judge is open and then you go to them."

Coming up on Thursday, we’ll hear more about what’s happening at the Clark County Fair with the UW-Extension Office.
