Owen City Council Discusses Address Changes

Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 -- 10:16 AM

-The Owen City Council discussed some address changes at their meeting last week.

A member of the OWC Fire and EMS was present to explain that certain addresses in the city are not able to be located on GPS for emergency calls. The council approved to have the City Clerk work with the Withee and Owen Post Offices to get addresses changed on County Hwy. X and the south side of Willow Road with the city paying for signs. The council also approved some rate changes provided by the OWC Fire and EMS as well. The council also approved denying a fee the Town of Longwood tried to charge the city for septic trucks delivering to the Owen Sewer Plant. The city claims the town doesn’t have the authority to do this.

Finally, the council heard the CDC’s Report. Tim Swiggum reported the Archeological study is done. The DNR needs to check the rail design for Heartland. The DRC met and finalized the Car Show plans. The Owen Junior Fair had a good turnout and the more entries in the parade.
