Owen City Council Discusses 2016 Financial Statements

-The Owen City Council discussed the 2016 Financial Statements at their meeting last week.An auditor with CliftonLarsenAllen presented a summarized version of the 2016 City of Owen Financial Statements, which were approved by the council. They also heard a couple public opinions and approved the appointment of their Lawn and Weed Commissioner. The council also tabled the outside employment item on the agenda and an application for fireworks was not approved as both the Police and Fire Chief denied it.
The Planning Commission met toward the end of July regarding two city property sales. All were in favor of selling Lot #4 in the East Industrial Park for $500 plus closing costs. After a failed attempt to table the sale of the next property, the council approved to sell the City easement on 507 W. Bjornstad for $1,000 plus closing costs.
