Marshfield Common Council Hears About 2018 Farm Tech Days

Wednesday, July 26th, 2017 -- 8:01 AM

(WDLB) -A lot of attention will be on Marshfield next year, when Wood County serves as the host of the 2018 Farm Technology Days--and the local committee organizing the event is asking the city to be ready.

Committee Chairman Dennis Bangart told Marshfield's Common Council last night that event organizers will lean on the city for things like public safety, traffic control and volunteers. The trade-off is economic impact. Convention and Visitors' Bureau Director Matt McClean told city aldermen that Marshfield has already seen dollars come into the community as people, organizations and businesses start to gear up for a show that's almost a full year away.

The estimated economic impact of Farm Technology Days is estimated at two-point-five million dollars. An estimated 40-thousand people will attend the three-day show. Next year's Farm Technology Days will be hosted by several families. The Daryl and Brenda Sternweis family is a fifth-generation family operation first established in 1879. Also hosting are the Ken and JoEllen Heiman and Kalvin and Marilyn Heiman families. The 2018 Farm Technology Days will run July 10th, 11th and 12th.
