Marshfield Man Sentenced for Assault

-A Marshfield man was sentenced for an assault and home invasion in Wood County Court on Thursday.Back in January, 23-year-old Emilio Velez-Ortiz, and another man, was out drinking with the victim in this case. They went to the home of the victim in Wisconsin Rapids where they handcuffed him, tied him up and began to beat him. At one point, they even pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him. They stole several items from the victim’s home and left him tied up. It took hours for the victim to free himself and get help.
Velez-Ortiz was sentenced to one year in prison for robbery with the use of force and being a party to a crime. Several other charges were dismissed and read in. He was also sentenced to 4 years’ probation and owes $4,914 in restitution.
