Granton Village Board Discusses Side Walk Restoration Project

-The Granton Village Board discussed their side walk restoration project at their meeting on Wednesday.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the village received a quote for the sidewalk repair for 26 dollars per linear foot. The cost for one section of the block, including handicap street entrances and driveway approaches would be approximately $18,000. This far exceeds the $7,000 budget so the village will go back to the original plan of doing the work themselves. They will also begin removing sidewalks that are not expected to be replaced and filling in and seeding the areas. Also, the village has $1550 in donations for the covered picnic table project and will begin working on this now that the campground is complete.
The village was also advised the highway board approved the Village’s request to open County Rd K for ATV travel from County Rd K from Hill to highway 10. The village will create an ordinance and provide all signage. Finally, the village received a quote for $2970 to chip seal plus a mobilization fee of $2600. If they wait until next year the mobilization fee will be waived as they will be in the area. The board will look at filling the holes on 3rd street and possibly adding dust control and then wait until next year to chip seal.
