Donations and More at Neillsville City Council Meeting

-The Neillsville City Council approved several items at their meeting on Tuesday.The council discussed receiving a quarterly report from the Health Officer in the City of Neillsville. The officer was happy to do so and will begin right away. The reasoning is that the council would like more information as to what’s going on in the city instead of receiving just a yearly report. They did this with the fire inspection report at the last meeting as well for the same reason. They also approved $2,610 worth of donations for the hanging flower baskets in the city. And they accepted a $300 donation from the Neillsville Rotary Club for flowers in the town square flower beds.
The council also approved an amendment to some property on Division Street, next to our radio station, to change the designation from residential to commercial. Country Floral in downtown Neillsville will be moving to that location. Finally, they heard an update on a $50,000 Economic Development Grant that was awarded to Riverside Assisted Living. When the grant was awarded, they had a stipulation of receiving an update on the progress in February of this year. However, that didn’t happen, so they wanted more information. The project is progressing. They are open now, but experienced some delays in construction and inspections. They had spoken with the mayor back in May and thought they had more time before they needed to approach the council with an update.
