Special Mother's Day for Residents at Marshfield's Hannah Center
Monday, May 15th, 2017 -- 8:03 AM
(WDLB) -Sunday was a special Mother’s Day for moms at the Hannah Center in Marshfield.Rick and Sherry Dana from Illusions and Design, formerly Spring Green in Marshfield, donated and delivered over a dozen gift baskets. Sherry said the gift baskets were made up of everyday items, and some things that moms couldn't necessarily afford, or wouldn't buy for themselves. Current Hannah Center resident JoAnne McCracken was among the recipients of the gift baskets. McCracken has 17-and-13-year-old children. She's been living at the Hannah Center for six months. But she says it isn't just a place to stay.
McCracken says she'll be what she called "graduating" from the Hannah Center next month, and finding a place of her own. She's originally from Wausau, and is one of four moms currently living at the Hannah Center, which--according to its mission statement--exists to assist women in life crisis through compassion and guidance in a nurturing environment, and is committed to preserving life, providing a home and promoting change. Over 200 women have stayed at the Hannah Center since its doors opened in June of 1993.
