Memorial Medical Center Receives "BigShot" Recognition

Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 -- 11:07 AM

-The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Clark County Health Department are pleased to announce that Memorial Medical Center-Neillsville has just been named a “BigShot” for their efforts to vaccinate children and adolescents against diseases.

The recognition is given to those health care providers who vaccinate 90% or more of their young patients or adolescents based on annual data collected by DHS. “Childhood vaccinations are critical to protect our children and everyone around them from diseases like measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, and cancer among others,” said Robert Leischow, Clark County Health Officer. We are pleased to recognize this organization for their diligence in keeping our children healthy.”

The Wisconsin Immunization Program webpage shows parents what vaccinations their child needs and at what age. Parents can also keep track of what shots their children have had, and shots they may still need, through the Wisconsin Immunization Registry. This is the first year of the “BigShot” recognition awards. DHS plans to make this an annual award to health care providers who show excellence in protecting children against vaccine- preventable diseases through strong immunization practices and high immunization rates.
