CDC's Report at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard the CDC’s report at their meeting last week.Tim Swiggum reported the application for the T-Grant is almost ready for submission, for the Heartland Development Project. Also, the DNR will fund the Phase 1 study. Once completed, the city can move forward in obtaining the VPLE Insurance. A meeting was held with the interested party in the Agri-Business Park/Commercial Park along with representatives from USDA Rural Dev., UWEC, CCEDC, DPW, Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., and Wisconsin Central Wisconsin Regional Planning. The project is planned for 2018. The city will need to look into street costs. The DRC met and is planning an ATV pull at their Autumn Fest in October. Parks & Rec. met. DPW is looking into streets, water and sewer in the Country Side Estates.
During the public opinion portion of the meeting, a resident inquired if the no train whistle will happen soon? Also, Tom Nelson was thanked for his service as Mayor on the Council. Two public works employees attended the annual Rural Water Conference and earned 15 credits for water certification. Pay Request #3 to August Winters for the Lift Station #1 project for $502,930.00 was presented and approved.
