Marshfield Clinic Finalizing Deal to Purchase St. Joseph's Hospital

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 -- 9:06 AM

(WDLB) -Marshfield Clinic is now in the process of finalizing its deal to purchase its longtime next door neighbor.

Both officials from Marshfield Clinic and Ascension are announcing today that the two sides have reached agreement on a purchase of St. Joseph’s Hospital by Marshfield Clinic Health System. The deal was reportedly inked on Friday. The operations of the hospital could be turned over to the Clinic as early as June. No major changes in staffing are expected at St. Joseph’s Hospital, which currently has roughly 15-hundred employees. The Clinic had said back in January they hoped a deal was in place by the end of the 1st quarter. That was on Friday, when the ownership change was officially signed.

As for the House of the Dove Hospice Home, the facility is being acquired by the Clinic, even though it’s operated by another organization. The Hope Lodge and the Ronald McDonald House are not part of the Clinic's acquisition of the hospital, but the Bright Horizons Day Care Center that provides services for hospital and Clinic employees is. Jensen also noted that Ministry is transferring its “Spirit of Marshfield” air and ground transport services to Stevens Point, but the Clinic will look into replacing them.
