National Public Health Week April 3rd-7th, Part 4

Thursday, March 30th, 2017 -- 11:13 AM

-In recognition of National Public Health Week, April 3-7, the Clark County Health Department encourages you to…take charge of your health!

The Clark County Health Department is encouraging you to schedule time with your provider at Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Our Lady of Victory Hospital, part of Ascension, in Stanley, Marshfield Clinic or wherever your health care provider is located to discuss what screenings and exams you need and when you need them. I spoke with Rebecca Rosandick, Health Educator/Public Health Specialist with the Clark County Health Department, and she talked about other things people can do to take control of their health.

"In addition to having health screenings done, people should remember that it's important to just take good care of themselves. Make good choices, live a healthy lifestyle. So this might mean not starting to smoke or not using tobacco products. If a person already smokes, they could think about quitting or reducing their use. Increasing physical activity if somebody isn't active. This could mean just going out for a simple walk or something. Eating more nutritious food. And washing your hands is always important."

Coming up on Friday, Rebecca will provide some final thoughts on National Public Health Week.
