National Public Health Week April 3rd-7th, Part 3

Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 -- 11:31 AM

-In recognition of National Public Health Week, April 3-7, the Clark County Health Department encourages you to…take charge of your health!

The Clark County Health Department is encouraging you to schedule time with your provider at Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Our Lady of Victory Hospital, part of Ascension, in Stanley, Marshfield Clinic or wherever your health care provider is located to discuss what screenings and exams you need and when you need them. I spoke with Rebecca Rosandick, Health Educator/Public Health Specialist with the Clark County Health Department, and she talked about some upcoming opportunities for the various screenings.

"Memorial Medical Center, MMC here in Neillsville, offers the following health screenings exam options. They have bone mineral density for osteoporosis, low dose CT for lung cancer and mammograms for breast cancer. People can self refer themselves for MMC's mammograms. In an effort to step up their fight against cancer, MMC will actually be offering a reduce cost mammogram special during Public Health Week. So, again, Public Health Week is April 3rd-7th. And if a person wants to schedule an appointment, they can call MMC at 715-743-3101 and they should reference the mammogram special for Public Health Week. And evening appointments are available."

"Moving on, Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley has walk-in Wednesdays in the Radiology Department. If someone would like to schedule an appointment for that, they can call 715-644-5571. And then lastly, Marshfield Clinic's Mobile Mammography Unit will be coming to Owen on Monday, April 3rd to kick off Public Health Week. And that will be available to the public from 9am-3pm. The mobile unit has a medical staff who can confidentially perform digital mammography screenings for women. It will be located at 202 Harding Street in Owen. And for more information or to schedule a mammogram the number is 715-221-6086."

Coming up on Thursday, Rebecca will talk about other things people can do to take control of their health.
