Neillsville City Council Approves Settlement with Police Officers

Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 -- 10:11 AM

-The Neillsville City Council accepted a settlement in regards to a grievance filed by two Neillsville Police Officers.

Neillsville Officer Jason King filed a grievance with the city in regards to his wages being insufficient. Later, Officer Chawala was also added to the grievance. In the end, the city offered a settlement to Officer King, paying him a $2,500 lump sum and then adjusting his wages to the proper amount moving forward. The council also approved the hiring of two part-time employees for the Public Works Department. Both of those items were discussed at a Personnel Committee meeting from March 14th and yesterday before the Common Council meeting.

The council also approved rolling over several appropriations into this year’s budget. These are items that continue to get rolled over and used from year to year such as the funds for decorations for the city and the Police Department’s K9 Program.
