Marshfield City Council Discusses Ambulance Billing
Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 -- 8:01 AM
(Mike Warren, WDLB) -Marshfield government will have its Finance, Budget and Personnel Committee review proposals the city receives from private companies which might be interested in handling the city's ambulance billing. The Common Council's vote last night was 7-to-3. City Administrator Steve Barg had recommended a special review team, but Alderman Ed Wagner said the city should be as transparent as possible with the process, if that's the direction the Council goes.
The idea of outsourcing ambulance billing to a private contractor came up recently, with the retirement of a half-time person who was doing the job in conjunction with a full-time person who left that post earlier this month. In the meantime, Interim Fire Chief Scott Owen says that pending ambulance bills are not being sent out until the staffing issue is resolved.
