-The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a brush fire Wednesday evening. The call came in just before 6:15pm. It was located at W6041 Panther Creek Road in the Township of Weston. Upon arrival, the department discovered the owner was cooking maple syrup and a spark from his smoke stack landed on a brush/debris/wood pile and caught fire. No buildings were damaged, but it did get into a corn crib and burn up some corn.
The department was on scene for an hour and half, there was no mutual aid, no injuries on their part and the Sheriff’s Department did come and check to make sure everything was okay.
