Several Items Discussed During Public Opinion Portion of Owen City Council Meeting

Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 -- 8:05 AM

-The Owen City Council heard several different topics during the public opinion portion of their meeting last week.

A resident presented a list stating he has talked to the Public Service Commission regarding Withee water rates and the WDOR Manufacturing Appraiser. It was also asked if the city’s taxpayers would be paying for the Heartland Development. Tim Swiggum, CDC, responded that the TIF will be funding any debt acquired for the Heartland project and will be paid off as the Development will be assessed at $6 million. Finally, it was asked if Quality Roasting is in the installation of their rail. Swiggum replied that they are and this will also be covered by TIF #4.

The council also approved to comply with application requirements of the Clean Water Fund Program and Safe Drinking Water Loan Program committing to City ownership of real property for duration of loan. Another resolution regarding borrowing for the Heartland project was tabled for the next meeting and the council approved the annual membership of $1,404 to the Clark County Economic Development Corporation.
