Black River Falls Man Sentenced for the Death of a Black River Falls Woman

-A Black River Falls man charged with the death of a Black River Falls woman was sentenced in Jackson County Court on Tuesday.In May of 2015, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office received an emergency 911 call regarding a single victim; unconscious and not responsive. The location of the emergency was at Vaudreuil Road in Black River Falls. Sheriff's Office deputies and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. Once on scene, the deputy and EMS determined that 30-year-old Jacinda Muir was deceased.
John Cook was arrested for the incident and charged with 1st degree intentional homicide. Court records indicate he stabbed Muir multiple times while he was high on meth. The two had gotten into an argument. Due to a plea agreement, he entered a guilty plea to second degree intentional homicide and several other charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison and 20 years of extended supervision.
