-Screenings use tests, physical examinations or other procedures to detect diseases before you have symptoms. Health screenings can find diseases early, when they're easier to treat. You can get some screenings in your doctor's office. Others need special equipment, so you may need to go to a different office or clinic.Some conditions that doctors commonly screen for include:

?,? High blood pressure
?,? High cholesterol
?,? Osteoporosis
?,? Overweight and obesity
?,? Prostate cancer in men
Which tests you need depends on your age, your sex, your family history, and whether you have risk factors for certain diseases. After a screening test, ask when you will get the results and whom to talk to about them.
In recognition of National Public Health Week (April 3-7) the Clark County Health Department encourages you to…take charge of your health! The Health Department is encouraging you to schedule time with your Provider at Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Our Lady of Victory Hospital, part of Ascension, in Stanley, Marshfield Clinic or wherever your health care provider is located to discuss what screenings and exams you need and when you need them. Memorial Medical Center (MMC) Neillsville offers the following health screening exams: mammograms for breast cancer, bone mineral density for osteoporosis and low dose CT for lung cancer. Self-referral for mammograms is accepted. In an effort to step up their fight against cancer, MMC will be offering a reduced cost Mammogram special during Public Health Week. Please call MMC Connect at 715-743-3101 and reference the Mammogram Special for Public Health Week. Evening appointments are available. And at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, part of Ascension, they have Walk-in Wednesday’s in the Radiology Department at the hospital. Call 715-644-5571 for details or if you have questions.
As a means to promote increased access to mammography screening, on April 3rd the Marshfield Clinic Mobile Screening Unit will be onsite at 202 Harding Street in Owen. Mammography Screening is open to anyone, but advance appointments are required. Call 715-221-6086 to schedule an appointment. For patients with health insurance or Medicare, the mammogram costs will be billed to their health insurance provider. As is the case when seeking health care services wherever, those interested should check with their insurance to make sure Marshfield Clinic is a network provider. Financial assistance may be available to those that qualify. Call the Marshfield Clinic Patient Assistance staff at 715-389-4475 to see if this is an option.
Also, on Thursday, April 6th and Friday, April 7th the Health Department will be offering blood pressure checks at no cost to Clark County residents from 11am ??" 2pm. So come by the Clark County Health Department at 517 Court Street, Room 105 to “get your numbers”.
