Granton Village Board Approves Purchase of Map Making Program

-The Granton Village Board discussed the purchase of a map making program at their meeting on Tuesday.According to the unofficial minutes, the DNR advised the village that an updated Water and Sewer CAD Map is needed. MSA quoted the village $1500-$5000 to prepare a map for the village. The price difference depends on how accurate the details are. A city employee attended a map making class presented by Diamond Maps and presented information on a map making system available on line for $19 per month. He signed up for the free trial and was able to show the board what can be done with the map making system. A motion to sign up for Diamond Maps using the monthly service and purchasing a GPS not to exceed $300 was made and approved.
The board also discussed internet for the police computer. The cost to provide internet connection to the police computer is $39.99 per month. The clerk is looking into the option of using the cell phone as a hot spot to provide internet.
