Unemployment Increases in Wisconsin

-Wisconsin’s counties and largest cities saw in increase in unemployment for the month of January.According to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, unemployment rates went up in the state's 32 largest cities. Unemployment rose in 71 of the state's 72 counties as well. For Clark County, we had a rate of 4.6% for January of this year, compared to 3.9% in December at 5.1% in January of 2016. That ranks the county at 31 of 72 for January 2017 compared to 33 of 72 in December of 2016.
For our neighboring counties, Chippewa has a rate of 5.5%, 3.8% for Eau Claire, 5.3% for Jackson, Wood is at 5.2%, Marathon is at 3.7% and Taylor is at 5.9%.
