Committee Reports at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Monday, March 6th, 2017 -- 10:15 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard the various committee reports at their meeting last week.

The council heard the report from the Planning Commission meeting held on February 15th. It was at this meeting that they approved sending the conditional use permit for the Willow Ridge Adult Day Care Center to the Common Council. They also discussed the properties involved in the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The application has been submitted and involves three properties that were damaged by floods back in September. In this program, the city is purchasing the properties and demolishing the homes and restoring the areas to green space. Most of the cost is covered by the federal government and state.

The big item that was discussed during that meeting is the location that Memorial Medical Center has chosen for their new facility. Representatives from the hospital discussed why they chose that spot and some of the items they would need if they build there. The city also stated some items they would need to take care of if the hospital chooses that spot. The Public Works Director was also contacted by the Wisconsin DOT because River Avenue would need to be upgraded to DOT standards.
