Neillsville City Council Approves Fuel Bids

Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 -- 10:10 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved the fuel bids at their meeting on Tuesday.

At the previous council meeting, the Director of Public Works, Dave Flynn, asked for the item to be tabled as he wanted to do some research on a bid from Hansen’s IGA. At Tuesday’s meeting, he asked the council to approve a bid for unleaded fuels from IGA for $.8 off the regular pump price. He also asked they approved a bid for on-road diesel fuel from IGA for $.9 off the regular pump price and a bid on off-road diesel fuel from Drescher’s BP for $.7 off the regular pump price. The council approved both bids during the Public Works portion of the meeting and then again during the regular Common Council meeting.

The council also approved the city clerk to reach out to the banks for bids on a loan the city will need to acquire in order to purchase new, and much needed, equipment for the Public Works Department. The department is in need of a new bucket truck, sweeper, chipper, 1-ton dump truck with plow, 5-ton dump truck with plow and a pick-up truck for the Director of Public Works. However, the city didn’t have the money in the budget to pay for all the items, so they will be getting a loan to cover it. DPW Flynn stated that he’s looking at items already and getting bids and he will not allow himself to go above $375,000. During the Public Works portion of the meeting, and again during the regular Common Council meeting, the council approved having the city clerk seek bids from banks on a 5-year, $375,000 loan.
