Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday.
Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on Parent/Teacher conferences that were held on October 6th and 10th. Most teachers reported 100% attendance at the conferences.

The Scholastic Book Fair was held in conjunction with the conferences. The afterschool program, Kid’s Club, is underway. 96 students have registered to participate on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Title I Family Night was held Tuesday, October 25th from 5-7 PM. The focus was on how to promote a growth mindset with our families. The Smoke House, in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, was at the district on Wed, October 26th and the Annual Halloween parade will be on Monday, October 31st at 2:30pm.

Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students Julie VanArk reported on the one-act play, Bang, Bang, You’re Dead, that has advanced to the sectional level, so far. Sectionals will be on November 3rd in Eau Claire. The play, which deals with mature content around school shootings, will be performed for the public on November 11th, 12th and 13. Due to the mature nature of the production, no performance for the student body will be done. It is not recommended for students under 6th grade, while parents are asked to accompany any junior high students to the performance should they choose to attend.

Mr. Engel and nine students attended the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis last week. Sierra Renderman was a part of the State FFA Choir. Mrs. Finkelson and Ms. Arndt have developed a Maker Space in the High School IMC. Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Carpenter accompanied 40 students to Madison on October 21st to attend the Wisconsin Science Fair. Clancy Albers shared her message about curing diabetes with attendees and state legislators in attendance.**
