Former Clark County Sheriff's Deputy Withdraws Complaint Against Department

Wednesday, October 26th, 2016 -- 9:29 AM

-A former Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy has withdrawn her complaint against the department.

Carmen Stimac’s case against the county was scheduled for a hearing today and tomorrow. Stimac alleged that the county discriminated against her because she’s a woman and gay. The incident began back in 2013 when Stimac was arrested, and later convicted, of drunk driving in Eau Claire County. Initially, the Clark County Sheriff was only going to temporarily suspend her, but the county Law Enforcement Committee decided to fire her.

However, this year a state equal rights investigation believed the county may have been too excessive in their discipline against Stimac because of her gender and sexual orientation. She was scheduled to appear before an administrative law judge today and Thursday who would have made the final determination. But, on Sunday, she signed a request to withdraw the complaint saying she and the county reached a private resolution.
