-A former Neillsville resident charged with operating a vehicle after suspension causing death in Taylor County appeared in court on Tuesday.According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, they were notified of an accident on State Highway 73, just north of County Highway V in the Town of McKinley back in September. An initial investigation indicated that a 2001 BMW SUV was traveling south on 73 when it entered the west ditch, hit an embankment and went airborne. There were two occupants of the vehicle, 28-year-old John Cihler of Neillsville and 27-year-old Sarah Scollay of Neillsville. Cihler was wearing a seatbelt, but Scollay was not and she was ejected from the vehicle. Scollay was transported to a Wausau hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A $2,000 signature bond was set against Cihler during his appearance on Tuesday. He’s also not allowed to drive a vehicle without a valid license. He’ll be back in court next month.
