Wednesday, October 26th, 2016 -- 7:36 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved a donation at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council approved a donation of $3,600 from Cummins Filtration to the city’s recreation department to be used for uniforms. They also approved the resignation of Carrie Converse from the city’s Tourism Committee and approved the appointment of Amber Vine to fill Carrie’s place on the committee. The council approved the Director of Public Works to file a request for public assistance to FEMA in order to try and recoup some of the city’s money that was spent fixing damage from September’s floods.

The council also approved the hiring of Lane Schuld as Neillsville’s newest police officer. Officer Schuld is 21-year-old and has worked part-time with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department and the Loyal Police Department. He graduated from High School in Auburndale and he then attended Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids. Neillsville Police Chief Scott Klueckmann said that Neillsville is his first full time position and he’s very excited to serve the citizens of the city. He'll begin November 1st.
