Thursday, October 20th, 2016 -- 9:06 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard several Finance Committee reports at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.

The city is currently working on next year’s budget. During a Finance Committee meeting held on October 4th, the council heard the budget for the Recreation Department. The department did see an increase in their budget from 2016’s $67,045 to 2017’s $73,415. That was mainly due to an increase in salary. The 2017 library budget was also presented. There was an increase there as well mainly due to salary increases. The 2017 budget for the library is $122,009 compared to 2016’s $118,179. The 2017 Economic Development budget was presented as well which remained the same as 2016 at $29,433.

The Clerk-Treasurer’s budget for 2017 increased slightly due to wages. 2017’s budget came to $68,414 compared to 2016’s $64,777. The City Hall budget had a slight increase from 2016’s $37,986 to 2017’s $38,186. For the city’s administrative budget there was an increase from 2016’s $851,569 to 2017’s $905,724. Most of that increase was attributed to wage and benefit increases.
