Granton Council Hears Information on WRS Retirement Benefit

-The Granton Council heard some information about the WRS Retirement Benefit at their meeting on Wednesday of last week.According to the unofficial minutes, the village learned that three of their employees were not signed up for the WRS benefit in a timely manner. The village is working with a case worker to make corrections. This will have a direct cost to the village as well as the associates with each having to make restitution of the required unpaid contribution plus interest penalties. The cost to the village is estimated to be $7000 plus interest penalties unknown at this time.
They also heard about the water utilities at a property in Granton. The utilities at this apartment do not have shut off valves for each location separately. This means that should the village need to shut water off at one apartment, it will shut off the water at the other. The owner is aware and will make the necessary corrections. Finally, a liquor license approval was tabled, they’re working on hydrant flushing and the constable stated the 2002 Ford F-150 Village Police Truck was recently repaired.
