Granton City Council Hears Update on Fire Truck Purchase

Monday, October 17th, 2016 -- 8:04 AM

-The Granton City Council heard an update on the purchase of a fire truck.

According to the unofficial minutes, there was nothing new to report. The next Fire Board meeting will be Oct 17th at 7:30pm. They will be applying for a grant to help pay for the pumping truck to replace the current 1986 truck. If approved, this will lower the expected cost to the village. A dog park has been put on hold until spring. The village clerk also confirmed with Schenck and the League of Municipalities that the constable/water position does not qualify as a salaried position. The board will meet on Oct 18th at 6:30pm for closed session to further discuss wages. The council also approved to donate $100 towards the installation of a flag pole in the cemetery.

It was also stated that ATV Route ordinances still need to be reviewed and updated, the council will look into rewriting the library contract as opposed to updating the old one and they tabled an item regarding water access to 106 W. 2nd Street. At that time the board can compare the costs of the new meter and costs of installing new water pipes to try to keep the costs down for the resident.
