Neillsville City Council Discusses Taxi Service Application

-The Neillsville City Council discussed the 2017 Joint Taxi Service Application with the county at their meeting on Tuesday.This item was first discussed during the Transit Committee meeting held on September 28th. The council needs to submit the 2017 DOT Transportation Aids application for the Neillsville Taxi Service every year. The rates will remain the same for 2017. During the committee meeting, it was stated that for 2015 and 2016, the ridership was down, but the revenues were up partially due to agency fares. This causes revenue increases, but some of that money will go back to the state. The taxi runs 364 days a year, every day but Christmas.
The estimated expenses for 2017 include $202,234 for Abby Vans and advertising expenses. The estimated revenues from fares comes to $36,995 resulting in a deficit of $165,239. The project federal and state share of expenses is 58% coming to $95,839 and the city share is 42% coming to $69,400.
