This Week is National 4-H Week, Part 3

Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 -- 10:58 AM

-This week is National 4-H week.

I spoke with Chris Holler, the 4-H Advisor with the Clark County UW-Extension Office, and she explained more of the things 4-H students did this past summer.

"And then backing up a little bit further for even our little bit younger kids, we have a great volunteer by the name of Jo Ann who pulls together an interstate exchange trip. So, that means some of our kids are going out to some location and interacting/living with the youth in another county in another state. The past two years, the exchange has been with Delaware. Our youth went out to Delaware and so right at the end of June, kids from Sussex County, Delaware from the City of Greenwood, Delaware, which was kind of ironic, came out here. It's just interesting to see how they do different things. You get to see so many different things. They stay with the family and, of course, some of our kids are on farms so they go out and help with chores and stuff like that. So, that's just amazing. And again that's for like our 12, 13, 14-year-olds. And then we had some youth that actually did an instate trip. This is for our 10, 11, and 12-year-olds. They actually come together and identify what part of Wisconsin they want to explore. Last year they went up into Hayward. This year, they went into Door County. But they camped out and they got to see different things that they don't typically get to see."

Coming up on Thursday, we’ll hear about more of the exciting things 4-H kids did this past summer.
