Neillsville City Council Hears Committee Reports

Saturday, October 1st, 2016 -- 8:25 AM

The Neillsville City Council spent most of their meeting on Tuesday hearing the various committee reports.

For the Public Works Department, the usual amount of work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, equipment maintenance, weeding, mowing, street sweeping, picking up branches, they removed the fountain, hauled brush and compost, cleaned storm drains and more. All the major paving projects in the city are complete. They also assisted the water department with repairing a water valve on West 8th Street. The department is also working on its budget for 2017.

The Director of Public Works also stated that, due to the heavy rains and flooding from a couple weeks ago, the department had over 30 hours of overtime. They had to remove trees from streets, closed off roads, checked the sewer plant and lift stations and the water system. They had some erosion around O’Neil Creek, but nothing significant. The count checked the bridge and deemed it was safe. There were some other minor issues they took care of as well.
