Neillsville School Board's Annual Meeting, Part 2

Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 -- 10:13 AM

-The Neillsville School Board held their Annual Meeting on Monday.

The board briefly discussed the Fund 80 amount. Fund 80 is the Community Service Fund and the purpose of this fund is to provide service for the Neillsville Community. There is $75,000 in the fund which is used to pay for the Recreation Director’s salary at $39,000, the custodial salary at $16,000 and the utility costs at $20,000. The Neillsville School’s building is used year round most of the day by many people and groups. Fund 80 helps pay for those services.

When taking the General Fund and Fund 80 into account, Neillsville will see an estimated tax levy of $3,768,410 for the next school year. This is slight decrease compared to the last school year’s $3,872,096. Keep in mind that this year’s number is tentative until the district knows what its certified aid will be in October. In regards to the mill rate, Neillsville will see a mill rate of 8.57 which is the lowest of all the districts in the area with the exception of Stanley-Boyd, which has a mill rate of 8.49.
