Book Signing at Granton Community Library on Tuesday, Part 1

-Jay Parker, a Granton native, will be at the Granton Community Library on Tuesday, August 23rd, signing copies of his new book, Granton: A Stop on the Stage Route from 5pm-6pm.This book has been 6 years in the making. I spoke with Jay and he talked about the origin of the book.
"Years and years before I ever had an idea to do the book, I had been collecting a lot of Granton related memorabilia. And that would arrange anything from old photos, or old photo postcards, to giveaways that different merchants would have given to patrons. So, it might have been a flower sifter from a grain elevator or it may have been a decorative plate from a general store and things like that. Or sometime just generic souvenirs such as pieces of glass that simply said Granton, Wisconsin on them. And over time, I put together a lot of those things and sometimes I'd run across businesses mentioned in the newspaper or on some of these things I collected that I had never heard of. And so, I started looking into what those businesses have been, when they've been around and, hopefully, where they were located and discovered a lot of information about that. Even today, I still have things that when I shared them with other people, they were businesses nobody heard of or where they were located."
