The Neillsville City Council approved the recommendations of the Grants Committee on several housing loans at their meeting last week.The committee looked at 5 loans during their meeting on August 1st. The first came to a total of, with closing costs, $62,855, which included an application for windows, plumbing, foundation, siding and door replacement. The committee denied the loan because of the large negative equity balance and the council approved the denial. The second loan came to $12,750 for emergency roof repairs and an additional $805 for environmental testing and costs. The Chippewa County Housing Authority deemed it an emergency repair and approved it as well. The grants committee accepted the loan and the council approved the acceptance.
The third loan came to $3,490 for a ramp. This one was also deemed an emergency repair by the Chippewa County Housing Authority. The committee accepted the loan and the council approved the acceptance. The fourth loan was for $22,116, with closing costs, for window replacements and electrical work. After some discussion, because this applicant received the previous loan, they accepted the loan and the council approved the acceptance. The final loan, with closing costs, came to $46,865 for electrical, windows, walls, doors and much more. They committee denied the loan because this applicant had already received a loan from the city for different repairs. The committee denied the loan and the council accepted the denial
