Granton City Council Moves Forward with Sale of Property

Sunday, August 14th, 2016 -- 6:20 AM

-The Granton City Council moved forward with the sale of some village property.

Jason Strey requested the clerk contact his lawyer and start the process for the sale of the village property. The board approved the clerk to move forward on this noting all costs will be assigned to Jason. It was also stated that no patchwork repairs were made last month by the fire station. The men will try to get to the repairs this month and to keep expenses down they will pick up black top material themselves.

The council also heard an update on the bridge damages. Minutes from the previous board meeting were forwarded to Randy Anderson and the DOT. Still no contact from either party to discuss or correct the damages caused when the new bridge was installed. The Village has moved forward and Doine Excavating came out and looked at the site. Doine advised that an estimate will really need to be determined once the site is excavated and he is able to see the extent of damages. Salvaging the new sidewalks at the site will probably not be possible. The village will continue to keep MSA involved for professional advice as the repairs continue. It was also decided to seek legal counsel. The clerk will contact the village attorney.
