Owen City Council Approves Plat at County Highway Intersection

-The Owen City Council approved a plat at their meeting last week.The council approved the plat for the area of 60 square feet at the corner of Highway X and the Highway D Intersection for the addition of a turning lane on the north/east corner of the intersection. Along with that, they approved the Sales Study for the right-of-way purchase and approved the purchase of 60 square feet from James Maurina for $200 on the north/east corner of intersection on Highway X and D. Finally, there was a discussion on Ordinance 13-1-120 and 6-2-6 and it was discovered that it is legal to plant flowers at the intersection of E. 5th Street and N. Paul Avenue.
Finally, the council heard the CDC’s report. Tim Swiggum reported that the Dollar General now as a new hitching post. They also have planted new trees. The United Communities of Clark County has awarded Advance Disposal the County wide garbage/recycling contract. The Board at Heartland Co-Op has approved the agreement with the City and they have also increased their assessment to $1 million. And the DRC is working toward getting business sponsors for the upcoming 4th Annual Car Show on August 20th.
