Lt. Governor in Central Wisconsin on Wednesday

Thursday, June 30th, 2016 -- 8:26 AM

(Mike Kobs, WDLB) -Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch made a stop in Marshfield yesterday, as part of her swing through the 69th Assembly District with Representative Bob Kulp.

The Stratford Republican showed the Lt. Governor part of central Wisconsin's manufacturing industry, with stops at Canadian American Homes in Dorchester and A-and-B Process Systems in Stratford.

"We learned how, well basically, ketchup is made in the huge stainless steal vats. Also, saw some that were bound for ethanol plants and others to water refineries where they're looking at purifying water, making it potable from waste water, which is really fantastic and exciting for this particular neck of the woods because you think of Wisconsin as the fresh water capitol of the world and now it's very true that that moniker has extended well beyond Milwaukee where we have the Global Water Center and it's right here in the metro Marshfield area which is really pretty neat."

Kleefisch also spent two hours at Marshfield Clinic, getting the latest updates on medical advances and education in the area.

"You know that I'm a cancer survivor and so we learned about some of the very latest in cancer care, but also a really unique model for health care. They make sure that people get back up and on their feet and are not readmitted. They do it in an affordable and clever way. They have truly earned my respect."

Kleefisch got to see first-hand Treyden's Cabin in the pediatric oncology wing, named in honor of Treyden Kurtzweil, who died two years ago from a rare form of cancer. The Lt. Governor wrapped up her day with a listening session at the Marshfield Chamber. Kleefisch noted that there are nearly 91-thousand jobs listed on the state's job search website, and she said the state needs to make sure it's doing all it can to fill those open jobs because they're not going to stay open forever. The Lt. Governor wrapped up her day with a fundraiser for Kulp last night at Hotel Marshfield.
