Special Bonus for those Attending Military Appreciation Night at the Ballpark in Marshfield

Thursday, June 30th, 2016 -- 8:18 AM

(Mike Kobs, WDLB) -Baseball fans in Marshfield got an added bonus last night.

According to Mike Kobs of WDLB, a UH-60 Blackhawk medical helicopter landed at Reeths Field at the Steven J. Miller baseball complex before the start of the Marshfield Chaparrals' amateur baseball game against Waupaca, as part of Military Appreciation Night at the ballpark.

Marshfield native Tom Rogers and two other crew members brought the Blackhawk to Marshfield last night. Rogers is a 29-year veteran with the Army National Guard, and uses the helicopter to train members of the 238th medical company based in West Bend.

"We came down the boulevard and we just circled in and landed here. When I seen it come through the pipeline that there was going to be a display in Marshfield it obviously peaked my interest and I made my schedule work so I could do it."

10-year-old Jack Syth of Marshfield checked it out.

"I think it's pretty cool because I've been close to one, but I've never been in one before. This is a first time experience, being in a helicopter."

The Blackhawk and its crew members flew over Hackman Field as the National Anthem was ending, then landed at the adjacent Reeths Field, and gave people a chance to climb inside and take photos and talk to the crew members--before departing Marshfield just after 9:00.
