Medford Man Enters Plea for Sexual Assault

-A Medford man charged for sexually assaulting a mentally ill woman appeared in Taylor County Court on Tuesday for arraignment.According to court records, Michael Ruch told investigators that he had a consensual relationship with the woman. The victim stated that Ruch would take her out of the mental health facility for one-on-one visits and that's when the assault would occur. The victim also stated that he would threaten her with a gun if she didn't cooperate.
Ruch has been charged with 2nd degree sexual assault of a mentally ill victim and 1st degree sexual assault with the use of a dangerous weapon. He entered not guilty pleas to the charges against him on Tuesday. Ruch is free on a $3,000 signature bond and he could spend 40 years in prison if convicted and sentenced to the maximum amount.
