Power to the Tractor Pull at the Owen City Council Meeting

Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 -- 9:18 AM

-The Owen City Council discussed getting power to the tractor pull during the Owen Jr. Fair at their meeting last week.

Owen’s Director of Public Works Erik Stinson reported that the organizers of the Owen Junior Fair Days Tractor Pull would like it if the electrical power could be extended to the area of the Tractor Pull Food Stand. Scott Baehr would donate his time to install it, but would cost the city approximately $1,000. The council approved to install the underground electric for the Tractor Pull Event in July.

Finally, the council heard the CDC’s report. Tim Swiggum reported that the Goose permit has been approved and received. It will be 2 or 3 weeks when the round up happens. The Community Gardens are full and doing well. The strawberry beds are ready for planting and the raspberry area needs to be prepared yet. The City’s flower baskets are being watered every day. The Owen Junior Fair asked if the DRC members could assist with the fair events. Property owners along N. Paul Ave. have been asked if they want to purchase land to the back of their properties and, when responses are received, a Planning Commission meeting will then be held. The Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center will be putting up a new electronic sign to be seen from Highway 29, on City property and they requested that the Samuel’s trailer be removed. Finally, Mike’s Bar has turned in his Liquor License Application for the new year.
