Black River Falls Man Sentenced for 5th OWI

-A Black River Falls man arrested back in April for his 5th OWI was sentenced in Jackson County Court on Monday.According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy on patrol, just before midnight on a Saturday night, saw a vehicle traveling towards him in his lane of traffic. Both vehicles stopped to avoid an accident.
29-year-old Matthew Stensven showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking before driving. He refused to participate in a field sobriety test and was arrested. He was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, 5th OWI. A charge of 5th Operating with a PAC was dismissed. He was sentenced to 3 years’ probation and 1 year in jail. He also had his driver’s license revoked for 36 months and he must install an ignition interlock device.
