Greenwood City Council Reaches Decision About Noise Issue

Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 -- 9:22 AM

-The Greenwood City Council continued to discuss a noise problem at their meeting on Wednesday of last week.

At a special council meeting earlier this month, the council discussed the noise created by a business owner who chips slab wood within city limits. The noise created by the chipper could be heard all over town and especially troublesome for those that live on the southwest end of town near to where the business is located. The owner, Martin Malvohr, works another job and stated that he would chip the wood when he had time, which sometimes caused him to chip early in the morning or later into the evening. After a lot of discussion and hearing complaints from residents, the council approved the owner to continue chipping until July 15th at 5:00 p.m. with the stipulation he chips from 8:00 -5:00 p.m.

The council also approved paving remaining portions of West Schofield, East Alley, West Alley, Park Alley and around the bandstand. They approved the removal of 4 trees in the cemetery by the company Back to Nature for $2575.00. Finally, they approved a demand charge for septic haulers, approved a Resolution in regards to the Compliance Maintenance Agreement and approved the 2016-2017 licenses.
