Update on the O-W-C Fire District at Owen's City Council Meeting

Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 -- 8:12 AM

-The Owen City Council heard an update on the Owen/Withee/Curtiss Fire District at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.

Mark Renderman was present to explain a number of needs the fire district is looking at. He presented reports showing a number of items including using an equalized assessment for fire protection, borrowing for the fire district special assessments, ambulance service and fire district consolidation, hire 2nd full time EMT and a letter from the fire district explaining their history, the issues at hand and options for their needs. Mark will bring back these issues when he needs council approval.

During the public opinion portion of the meeting, an alderman had a question about the E. 5th Street Sidewalks and also about train silence or a quiet zone in the city. Finally, John Ross, Director of Clark County Emergency Management, requested input into a possible training for municipalities in Clark County. The training “Continuity of Government Operations Planning for Rural Communities” may come to Clark County at no charge if there is enough interest in the county. Owen has seven interested in the training.
