Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

Monday, June 20th, 2016 -- 11:21 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.

Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the success of 4th Grade Ag Days, held on May 24th, and thanked Mr. Engel and the FFA for helping to organize the event. Monday the 13th was the first day of summer school with 170 signed up to participate over the 5 week term. 15 classes will be running in each session with 20 staff members working. The 4 year-old Kindergarten numbers for next fall look low. They have 10 students in the 4 day per week afternoon program and 14 students in the two day per week, all day program. Mr. Batchelor proposed the idea of having the full day kids go 4 days per week instead of 2. More discussion will continue at the July meeting.

Jr/Sr High School Dean of Students Julie VanArk reported on the summer school classes being run for junior and senior high school students. The PLC Leadership team attended The Institute for Better Learning in Fond du Lac Jun 15-17. She also notified the board of two overnight trips with one being the FFA at the State Convention in Madison which was June 13??"15 with Mr. Engel and Mrs. Schmelzer. Mrs. Meyer will be taking five students to the Rural School Science Camp in Madison July 11-14 where they will be studying regenerative biology.
