Owen-Withee School Board Approves Transportation Contract

-The Owen-Withee School Board approved a transportation contract at their meeting on Monday.Three companies submitted bids for the district’s busing needs. Burnett’s of Spencer, Krug’s of Medford and Town & Country of Owen were the three companies. All three bids came in very close. Because of that and the ties to a local business, the board voted 5-0 to award the transportation contract to Town & Country. The board again discussed the idea of awarding credit, in some form, to athletes in lieu of physical education. How this would work for how many credits was not clear. The Board will continue to review options, but no action will be taken until several questions are answered.
Charlie Schneider of CESA 10 was at the meeting to explain the bid the district received from Complete Control of Wisconsin Rapids to be the district’s Performance Contractor for the Act 32 project the district is considering. The approval of this contractor allows the district to move into the engineering and bidding phase of the energy efficiency projects with no cost to the district. Once the projects are approved and the levy is approved, Complete Control will get 13.5% of the cost of the project. The Board voted 5-0 to award the Performance Contract to Complete Control.
