Public Works Report at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Thursday, June 16th, 2016 -- 10:11 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works Report at their meeting on Tuesday.

The usual amount of work was done in the city including parks and cemetery maintenance, equipment maintenance, mowing, weeding, trimming/pruning trees, watering flowers, hauled brush and compost, cleaned storm drains, crack sealing, street sweeping, cleaned up storm damage, picked rock, leveled areas in the old landfill and more.

Some other items of note, the department continues to ask residents to not blow grass into the streets when mowing because it clogs up the drains and it takes a lot of time to clean. They continue to raise manholes on Grand Avenue and they cut several bad areas on city streets and they’ll be paved later this summer. They continued with some well rehab and replaced two booster pumps at a cost of $40,000. They replaced a section of curb and gutter at the corner of 4th and Grand as water was getting under the asphalt at that location.

Finally, it was mentioned that Cummins is sponsoring an Environmental Tire Round-Up on Friday, June 24th from 5am-7pm and Saturday, June 25th from 6am-10pm. This event is for passenger tires only, no ag tires, semi-trailer tires or tires on rims. It is free, but there’s a limit of 5 tires per person and 10 per household. The collection event is limited to 1500 tires, so it’s fist come, first serve.
